
JR Gooseberry
J.R. Gooseberry is a distinguished dancer, choreographer and educator, proudly rooted in California. Following his high school education, he embarked on 13 international tours showcasing his talent and imparting knowledge in more than twenty countries including Japan, Russia, Germany, China, and South Africa with The Young Americans. The Young Americans were the first show choir mixing choreography with choral singing in America. Experiencing national television exposure early on, The Young Americans taught music to students in the United States and other parts of the world as advocates of music education in their International Music Outreach Tours.
After performing with The Young Americans, J.R. went on to become its Associate Director and Choreographer. Under the esteemed direction of Bill and Robyn Brawley, J.R. had the privilege of performing more than once in the second longest-running dinner theater at Boyne Highlands and participating in numerous awards shows alongside acclaimed Broadway stars such as Brian Stokes Mitchell, Kelli O'Hara, Susan Egan, and Hugh Panero. He has since danced with Calliopus Contemporary Dance, Contempo Ballet Company and the Erick Hawkins Dance Company.
Currently, he serves as the choreographer for HEART Global, a world touring company, and various show choirs throughout Southern California and Arizona. His extensive training includes mentorship from Robyn Brawley, Heidi Jarrett, Alex Little, Jose Costas, Linda Sohl-Ellison, Jason Hortin, Louis Kavouras, Cathy Allen, Rachel Berman, and many others.
J.R. graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in May 2024 with an emphasis on performance/choreography and production/management.
